Dog Fouling Heywood Road Area

by prestwichfocus on January 15, 2013

A number of local residents have got in touch in the last week to complain about the amount of dog fouling – particularly in the area around Heywood Road from Bury Old Road up towards the reservoir, and a number of roads off.

I have asked for the relevant Council officers to look at installing extra signage and also to undertake some enforcement visits.

If anyone has any information about particular times or locations of places where this might be happening it would be really helpful if you could let me know, so that the Enforcement Officers can do their job most effectively.

I walk my dog everyday down Polefield Road, and St Margarets Rd, to Heaton Park. I have been doing this for the last 5 years and have noticed that the dog fouling problem has got worse than ever. The park is also atrocious for fouling, it must be easy for wardens to catch people, I see people letting dogs off leads every day in the park, and they just walk on and disregard whatever the dog is doing. I am sure it would not take many prosecutions for the message to sink in. I find it an embarrasment as a regular dog walker to see fouling all over footpaths and in the park, and hope that people do not think I am one of the owners responsible.
