Councillor Nominated for National Award

by timpickstone on January 29, 2013

I have been shortlisted for the national award of ‘Online Councillor of the Year’ as part of the national C’llr Achievement Awards, organised by the Local Government Information Unit.

According to their website: “The C’llr Achievement Awards aim to recognise and reward those councillors who go over and above what is expected of them; councillors who show absolute dedication to their communities and make positive change happen to the lives of people in them”.

Over the years we’ve done some really important work in Holyrood Ward to make sure that local people can keep in touch and up to date with me as their councillor online as well as through traditional methods. It is a real honour that the work we have done at the local level is being recognised nationally

The awards will be made at a ceremony in London on 25 February 2013.

More information on the awards and a full list of Councillors shortlisted here:http://www.lgiu.org.uk/cllrawards/

Well with regards to the dealings I’ve had with you Tim you deserve this nomination. Never met you personally, however any local problems or gripes put to you are always met with genuine concern, politeness, decency and a commitment to get things put right. This is an attitude that surprised me initially as in my experience the general attitude of many Councillors is to disappear into the woodwork very quickly after election campaigns. Congratulations.
