Although Bury residents fair better than others for many health concerns, we are statistically MORE likely to get cancer and more likely to die from cancer than the national average. in the country.
The local health services are warning us that some local people put off seeking help and, by the time they go to the doctor, it is too late.
NHS Greater Manchester has launched a new campaign, urging people to lookout for 4 key signs of cancer and go to their GP if they have any of the symptoms.
There are over 200 different types of cancer and Know 4 sure highlights four key symptoms of a number of different cancers, including less common ones. The four symptoms are:
– Unexplained blood that doesn’t come from an obvious injury
– An unexplained lump
– Unexplained weight loss, which feels significant to you
– Any type of unexplained pain that doesn’t go away
The chances are it’s nothing serious, but if it is cancer, finding it early makes it more treatable.
Greater Manchester has been selected to run this pilot campaign. As well as advertising on the radio, press, pharmacy bags and screens in GP surgeries, there are activities in local communities.Leave a comment
