The Council is to begin consultation this week on proposals to extend the 20mph zone to the ‘Heaton Park’ area of Prestwich – this is the wide area bordered by Bury Old Road, Heywood Road and Whittaker Lane.
– establish an area-wide 20mph zone with signing at all boundary points;
– install 75mm high speed cushions (singly or in pairs) on Holyrood Road, Heys Road, St Austell’s Drive, Orange Hill Road, Hampden Road, Heaton Street, Bailey Street and Newton Street; (But ONLY 13 to cover the whole area).
– introduce “dummy” speed cushions on Hastings Road, Bailey Street, Kenyon Lane, Bedford Street and Heaton Street; and
– introduce “20” carriageway roundels and/or repeater signs throughout the area.
Very importantly Heywood Road is NOT covered in this scheme – so it will be the only road in the area, other than Bury Old Road, left at 30mph.
As your local councillors and team we are very keen to make sure people get their say on this issue – people in the area covered and also what people think about Heywood Road. Please take part in the formal consultation (deadline 14 March 2016) AND let us know what your views are so we can best represent your views. Email us at email@example.com.Leave a comment
