Prestwich Carnival and Grand Parade – This Weekend

by prestwichfocus on 12 June, 2018

This weekend (23-24 June 2018) is Prestwich Carnival. There are some activities in St Mary’s Park on Saturday, but the main parade and carnival takes place on Sunday 24 June.

The great team of volunteers that put on the Carnival say: “For the people of Prestwich and surrounding areas, Prestwich Carnival has been a key celebration in the summer calendar for many years. In fact, in its present format the Carnival parade spans back over 90 Years.

Once a year St Marys Park plays host to a great family day out including a fun fair, stalls village, music and much more; culminating in the grand parade which passes through the streets of Prestwich.

For 2018 we will be having a Fun Day on Saturday the 23rd of June, with funfair and various activities from1pm to 5pm with the Big Day on Sunday the 24th of June, come and join in the celebrations and be part of our community!”

** PLEASE NOTE THE GRAND PARADE STARTS AT 12PM THIS YEAR **

    Hi Tim
The crossroads at Heywood Old road and Middleton road was awash with taxi’s parked on double yellow lines both evenings.
Visibility was shocking due to this and made more dangerous by doors opening into oncoming traffic.
I come home from Royal Oldham Hospital about 22:45 and it frightened me the amount of people just walking into the road to board the cabs.
I have no idea how you can help stop this but hey, please give it a try before somebody’s child is killed.
Maybe temporary railings covering the first 3/5 metres from the traffic lights, this might stop people trying to get into cabs so close to cross traffic.
Hope this was one of your easier emails to deal with.
    Kind regards
    Gary
