Greater Manchester Mental Health, the Trust that runs Prestwich Hospital, has opened it’s 2019 Council of Governor Elections.
“Governors have an important role in making GMMH publicly accountable for the services we provide. They are elected by GMMH Foundation Trust members and form the Council of Governors. They are responsible for representing the views and interests of members to the Trust’s Board of Directors as well as having formal roles in appointing the Trust’s chair and supporting the appointment of the chief executive.
“We have vacancies in all of our public constituencies (Bolton, Salford, Trafford, City of Manchester and Other England and Wales) and our service user and carer constituency. No specific qualifications are required – just a commitment to the role and a desire to make a difference.
“Anyone can be a governor so long as they are 16 years old or over and a member of the Trust. Anyone can become a member of the Trust by registering online at www.gmmh.nhs.uk/members-governors, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 0161 358 1607. Becoming a member is a great way to learn about more opportunities to get involved with the Trust and help to challenge stigma and discrimination. It also means you get to vote for who you want to represent you on the Council of Governors.”
