Later in November is the NHS ‘Self Care Week’. The Bury Directory is supporting the Self Care campaign and helping people know about pvital information, advice and local events.
The team will be out and about during November to help people discover how the directory can help them to use self-care in all aspects of their life. This might be looking for a local club, an activity, a service or finding out more information about a health and social care need.
You can meet the team on the following dates (all meetings run from 10.30am to 1.30pm):
Tuesday 12 November – Prestwich Library
Tuesday 19 November – Radcliffe Library
Tuesday 26 November – Ramsbottom Library
Remember: some health conditions such as sprains, colds and coughs can be treated at home or with advice from a pharmacist without a trip to the GP or A&E. Using the right health service for your health needs will save you time and help take pressure off the NHS.
There are a range of services and options available over the bank holiday with some community pharmacies open. Pharmacists offer expert health advice and can recommend over-the-counter medicines to provide relief from many minor, short term conditions such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
Whilst self-care is generally the best option for minor, short term conditions, it is important that local people know where to go or who to contact if they are unwell, so that they can receive the best possible treatment in the quickest time for their condition.
