Parklife Grants – Open for Applications

by timpickstone on 5 December, 2019

Applications are open for the 2019/20 Parklife Community Fund.

Parklife provides a Community Fund which is in cooperation with Manchester, Bury and Rochdale councils, which is now open to applicants. This fund is designed for the benefit of local community groups and priority is given to groups and projects that utilise parks and open spaces, although all are encouraged to apply with any ideas or requests to help improve the area they share.

This year, the fund has made more than £58,000 available for the benefit of community groups. The deadline for all applications to be received is 27 January 2020 and the can be submitted from Monday 2 December onwards. Groups will be notified by 10 February 2020 of the outcome.

The Bury fund covers Sedgley, Holyrood and St Mary’s wards and there is £22,500 available with individual award limits of £1500. Applications will go to a Prestwich Councillor Panel and should be made to Bury Council.

In addition, and for the first time, there will also be a £11,000 Micro Grant fund available for community groups who want to grow an idea or need a smaller amount of funding. This can be for activity in any of the above wards, including Heaton Park, and groups applying for these smaller pots of money will need to have received money previously from one of the local councils (Bury, Manchester, Rochdale) or be known to them and there is a limit of £500. Applications to the Micro Grant fund will be made direct to Parklife and groups can either apply for a microgrant or a Manchester / Bury / Rochdale fund grant but not both.

The grants will be awarded at an event in Prestwich towards the end of February.“

This is the fourth year the Parklife Community Fund has made financial contributions to local groups. Previous awards from the 2018 Parklife Community Fund have been awarded to:

Bailey Street Bowls association, Beis Mordechai, Casicare, Clean Team Prestwich, Creative living Centre, Incredible Edible, Jigsaw, Manchester Maccabi Centre, Prestwich Arts Festival, Prestwich Clough Centenary, Prestwich Cricket Club, Prestwich Plodders, Prestwich Together-community picnic, Shomrim Prestwich Community Safety, South Clough allotments, The Fed – dementia garden, Yesoiday HaTorah School, Young leaders Lubavitch
