Cumberland Planning Committee Haithwaite Farm

Reporting back: Cumberland Council Planning Committee, 10 May 2023 – Haithwaite Farm

Just to let people know the outcome of the Cumberland Council Planning Committee with regard to the Haithwaite Farm planning application.

The application was approved, by 8 votes to 1.

There was one additional condition applied to the application, that a full travel plan be submitted when the development opens.

Two local residents spoke well against the application, as did a representative of the Parish Council who explained the PC’s opinion. I was also able to speak as the local ward councillor, to represent the 90% of people who commented who were against the application.

People raised concerns about the scale of the development being incompatible with such a rural area, and significant concerns about increased traffic on our rural roads.

Members of the Planning Committee did ask quite a few questions about traffic, scale of development, light pollution, and other issues, but most ended up voting in favour.
